In honor of International Women's Day, we wanted to share a story about some of the advances with the KEEP students in Kabudula. Thokozani, Gladys, and Loness are three of our KEEP Scholars who we featured earlier this month. Thokozani wands to become a doctor and Gladys and Loness are both working toward becoming nurses. These three young women are challenging the societal norms in Malawi to work to achieve their goals.
As a result, we have been coordinating to link these three young women with Kabudula Hospital to arrange a volunteer and shadowing program. This will give them more exposure and experience in the medical field before launching into further education. In addition, it will provide these women a valuable opportunity to get first hand experience in fields traditionally dominated by men in Malawi.
We hope to continue providing opportunities such as these to the women in Kabudula through the KEEP program and among all students, clinicians, and patients. These women inspire us every day!
