Talandira, a beautiful 6 month old girl, arrived home safely recently after being sent for cleft palate surgery in Blantyre. Thanks to Dr. Aubrey, her transportation from her remote village across the country was successful!
Talandira was born with cleft palate, a condition that made it difficult for her to breastfeed or gain weight since she often aspirated on her food. This was causing her severe malnutrition. After her surgery, she has now gained a considerable amount of weight and is a fat and happy baby!
Dr. Aubrey and Program Manager Miranda were privileged enough to get to visit Talandira in her home village after her surgery. They were welcomed by the entire community, who was thrilled that such opportunities had been made available to such a remote part of Malawi. Talandira’s grandfather and the chief of the village personally thanked everyone at WAM for assisting Talandira and improving her life for years to come.
WAM is thrilled to be able to provide such support to Kabudula and the surrounding villages. Talandira’s story is an inspiration and would not be possible without the generous support of donors. Thanks.
