Young Boys At KCH Aided By Breath Of Life

One of the many infants receiving life-saving oxygen from the Breath of Life program is B.A., a 5 day old boy under the care of the pediatricians at Kamuzu General Hospital in Lilongwe, Malawi. He is very sick with severe meningitis with progressive respiratory disease due to severe pneumonia.  He was having apneic spells (not breathing) off of oxygen, presumably due to his neurologic condition, young age, and hypoxia.  The addition of oxygen from our concentrator has stabilized his condition and he's making slow progress. We will keep you updated on his condition.

Another critically ill child, is a two and a half year old boy with severe malnutrition and tuberculosis and very severe hypoxic pneumonia. He is very ill but hopefully stabilizing with the help of our oxygen concentrator.  Without supplemental oxygen, his oxygen saturations fall into the 70s but with our Breath of Life oxygen concentrator his value improves into the low 90s.  Cross your fingers, he has a ways to go...
